Now, we are going to solo over a simple vamp/ one chord backing track.

So, how do you solo over one chord without being boring?

Let's check it out!

How to do it?

Of course, we need to mix things up not to immediately sound boring.

This is a G7 chord played over and over.

What scales or strategies can we use to sound good?

Well, we can basically use the G Mixolydian to solo over the track.

We can also use the G minor pentatonic. Also, the G major pentatonic.

And this is the backing track we'll be using...

Thanks Jungle Track for creating this backing.

Here's my take/ improvisation over the backing track

Let's listen to my version of the track.

Here's the link:

Other scale options for this track:

You can use not only the G Mixolydian, G minor pentatonic and G major pentatonic.

Other options include:

  • G blues scale

  • G Dorian

  • G pentatonic 6

  • G altered scale

Of course, there are even more options.

But that's more like for advanced players which most of my readers are not yet.

Anyways.

Good luck with your soloing!
