Hello!

Today let's talk a little about my guitar I've owned for many years - the Jackson SL3.

Actually, I wanted to sell it not long ago but decided not to do so. When I played it after 1-2 years using the Neural DSP plugins I understood that it's actually a very capable soloing and rock rhythm guitar.

It can tackle different genres not only heavy metal. That's probably because the humbucker pickup in the bridge position (Seymour Duncan TB-4 JB) is super versatile.

The sound is clear, articulate and I can play different genres like progressive metal, fusion, rock, blues and even jazz, etc.

Okay, let me give you the full specs of the Jackson SL3:

Body: alder with flame maple veneer on transparent colors

Neck: neck thru body rock maple with scarf joint headstock

Neck dimensions: 3rd fret: .790", 12th fret: .850"

Tuning machines: sealed die-cast tuners

Fingerboard: rosewood

Frets: 24 jumbo frets

Bridge pickup: Seymour Duncan JB TB4 Humbucking Pickup

Middle pickup: Seymour Duncan SHR-1N Humbucking Pickup

Neck pickup: Seymour Duncan SHR-1N Humbucking Pickup

Controls: master volume, master tone

Bridge: Floyd Rose FRT-O2000 tremolo

5-position blade pickups switching:

Position 1. Bridge Pickup

Position 2. Bridge and Middle Pickup

Position 3. Middle Pickup

Position 4. Middle and Neck Pickup

Position 5. Neck Pickup

Hardware: black

Scale length: 25.5"

Width at nut: 1-11/16"

MOTO shark fin position inlays

I don't know when exactly it was manufactured but probably somewhere between year 2007-2009.

The thing is that using traditional guitar amps I owned at that time when I first learned guitar were not so great sounding as Neural DSP plugins now.

Especially, during the last 3-5 years Neural DSP have improved their technologies quite a bit.

I like using the Cory Wong X, Abasi, Petrucci X plugins so much! They sound super great when dialing in some tones using the presets given.

Here's, btw, a quick demo of my Jackson SL3 over a fusion backing track:
