Let's talk today a bit about the Jackson Misha Mansoor Juggernaut HT7.
Now, this is a guitar I own at the moment.
I've got the neon orange color one.
Here are the features:
26.5" scale length
Basswood body
Bolt-on caramelized maple neck with graphite reinforcement, scarf joint and oiled back finish
20" radius caramelized maple fingerboard with rolled edges, 24 jumbo frets and offset white dot inlays
Heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel
Luminous side dots
Uncovered direct mount Jackson MM1 pickups
Five-way blade switch, single volume control and single tone control with push/pull select feature
Jackson HT7 string-through-body hardtail bridge
Horizon Devices Strings - Progressive Tension Standard 7
Available in Neon Orange or Blue Sky Burst with a matching Jackson 4x3 AT-1 headstock and black hardware
If you have heard about the band Periphery then you probably are aware of Misha Mansoor and his cool signature guitars.
This Jackson Juggernaut HT7, of course, is not the expensive American Series but let me tell you - honestly, there isn't much of a difference between those two.
I paid approx 950 EUR for my guitar through Musik Productiv - a Germany based online retailer.
Anyways, what exactly so great about this budget / mid-range guitar?
Obviously, it aims to cater to prog-metal guitarists (but actually it can play many other not so hi-gain filled genres).
Yes, it can play rock, jazz-rock or fusion, and even jazz and blues.
I like the smooth neck - very good for improved playability.
It's a 7 string - so good for more complex chords and metal rhythm chugs if that's what you are aiming for!
The tone, overall, is very balanced and note definition is good.
5-way switch to get many tones.
Price is good.
I like the finish and color.
Stays is tune well.
What's not so good or could be better?
Nickel frets (not as durable as stainless steel but gets you a brighter tone).
This is not a real minus but - you need to have average or above-average size hands and length fingers because of 7 strings and wide neck. So short fingers - not so good for playing this HT7.
The 7th string can be annoying/ disturbing when not chugging. 6-string guitars are easier to visualize and play.
Long neck with 24 frets can be a bit too difficult to adjust to.
Could be sitting a little better in your lap/ on right leg because the HT7 body is cut in such a way.
But, overall, a great guitar for the price.
Would I recommend it to you? Absolutely!
If you have 1K EUR saved and need a versatile guitar then look no further - this beast can get the job done.
It can handle many genres - not only prog-metal or rock. You can play fusion and jazz/ blues with it too.
Happy playing!
